LE PARISIEN – West End

I’ve been told by many a Piggy friend that Le Parisien is a great little bistro! They serve a classic French menu in an unpretentious environment; "Best Casual French 2013" (honorable mention) in fact - according to Vancouver Magazine.

So as one of my Dine Out Vancouver adventures, I went to discover Le Parisien for myself. It was tasty research at an affordable price: 3 courses at $28 per person. Le menu featured hearty French Fare to start, and finished with classic and delicious desserts. The portions were satisfying and the plating was pleasingly simple. Par exemple, if you ordered the Flank Steak and Frites, you literally got just that. There was nothing else on the plate except a steak and a mountain of Frites. Thank goodness my brother (who makes one darn good Fat Pig!) was there to help me make that climb.

As per usual, I've listed the full Dine Out menu below but I’ll pass on my highlights from each course.

APPETIZER: Crispy Calamari, Saffron Aioli. Nicely prepared – light and crisp. With enough for 2 people to share, this was a great way to start the meal.

ENTRÉE: Grilled Flank Steak Frites, Cognac Peppercorn Sauce. The meat was cooked to a perfect medium rare and it had enough delicious sauce that you could drag les frites through it. Oink Oink!

DESSERT: Classic Crème Brulée. This item is a Le Parisien must! I can’t stop thinking about its delicate texture and decadent flavor. It was just the perfect way to end our meal.

So in the end, my piggy friends were right: it was a delightful evening at Le Parisien. The black and red décor gave the room a cool ambiance and all the staff were très amical! I’ll definitely be back… I’m thinking brunch might be fun to try next!
