Watermelon (WOW!) Salad


  • 1 watermelon (seedless), cubed
  • 2 peaches, medium dice
  • 2 nectarines, medium dice
  • ½ bunch of mint, more or less, chiffonade
  • ¼ bunch basil, more or less, chiffonade
  • Salt and Pepper, pinches
  • 200 - 400g of Bulgarian Style Feta Cheese (with Sheep's milk), cubed


Complete knife cuts and mix all ingredients together in a large bowl. Stir and taste test.

Adjust levels of mint and basil, as desired. Add salt and pepper, as desired.

Chill in the fridge – 30 minutes at least – before serving.


Attention Piggies: the latest 7 day weather report says we might just have a few days of sunshine left. The month of September is apparently going to go out with a bang and October will get off to a great start! And what’s even better, I noticed that sweet juicy watermelons are still available at my various local produce stores. Put it all together and I’ve got the perfect excuse to share this refreshing salad recipe with you. It’s not too late, after all.

My recipe, deliciously simple, if I do say so myself, was created for an event that Jeff and I catered over on Bowen Island. Bowl upon bowl was devoured; the feedback was frickin’ fantastic! So if I were you – and believe me, I’ll be doing it myself – I’d make up a big batch before the summer sun leaves for good. This was a real winner, Folks.
